This is a warm moonless August night. My sister and I are camping at Devils Tower National Monument. I wanted to stay here to observe the Perseid meteor shower. The skies are nice and dark here and Devils Tower seems like the perfect setting. The Southern Milky Way is spectacular in the summer and the meteor shower does not disappoint. We counted many meteors that night but this was the best by far. We stood and watched in amazement as the meteor looked like it was throwing sparks through the sky. My sister looked at me and said you did get that didn't you? I'm not sure why she asked me that since I was jumping up and down.
