Night Glow
The Very Large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory located on the Plains of San Agustin between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, New Mexico. There are 27 antennas, each has a diameter of 82 feet. During the day, you can go on a self guided walking tour, visit the gift shop and visitor center. I spent an afternoon there looking at everything. I spent one night imaging. I stayed in Magdalena. That made about a half hour drive each way. There is a lot of wildlife moving around at night. It is so quiet after midnight. All I could hear was the dish when it was moving. This was another unworldly moment when you feel like you have the earth and sky all to yourself.
