I love to watch storms. At times the lightning is mesmerizing. It almost seems to have a certain rhythm to it, if you watch it long enough. The sun and moon can provide surprising views. I always sit by the window when I fly. I have seen solar halos but not like the one pictured in this gallery. The solar halo was bright and unusual. I had not seen the spike below the sun before. After some research, I found it is a sun pillar as seen from 32,000 feet high. One never knows what can be seen when looking out the window of an airplane!
